Goodbye Twenty Seventeen

2017 began with my boyfriend and his parents, a low key affair as he recovered from minor surgery.

I spent a week in Warwickshire, while A was at uni. We visited Shakespeare’s haunts in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Blossoms and daffodils started to bloom. I started viewing flats to move into from my au pair house. I found one within a few days.

I moved out of my au pair house and into a flat share. Danielle and I went to Stockholm. I got two tattoos on my shoulder blades. It was a big month.

Danielle and I saw The Vamps together for the last time. Listening to Paper Hearts will never be the same.

June began with a weekend in Prague. We climbed towers, crossed bridges and explored Prague Castle. A picnic on Box Hill. I started nannying for a new family, one baby and one dog.

I took several mini trips in July. Isle of Wight with Danielle, West Wittering with A, Lake District on my own and Barcelona with Danielle. Summer was in full swing.

Two and a half weeks in the South of France for work and five days in Lisbon with A. August was a month of no routine. I longed for school to start again.

September began with a trip to Blackpool to visit a waterpark. That day is probably my favourite day of the year. I made new friends and parted with old, as they started new adventures.

Danielle and I spent a day driving through the Cotswolds in the Autumn leaves. We ate scones and ran around a model village. We saw Harry Styles live in London.

Cold and bleak November started with bonfire night. Danielle, A and I saw the All Blacks win at Twickenham. We watched Aladdin in the West End.

My birthday celebrations began the last week of November, a Christmas dinner with friends. I said goodbye to Danielle at the airport when she flew home. Christmas was spent in Liverpool with A. I moved into a new flat. A busy, emotional month to finish off the year.

Here’s to 2018 and whatever it has in store.
